Variations on a familiar theme

It’s always nice to add new trails to a well used circuit and that’s just what we did on Sunday on the “escape from the office ” ride. After prising Chipps and Sim away from putting the mag together we headed out on our Oxenhope local loop.

The added piece, now named “Shoeshine”, is a short but sweet section of singletrack that swoops through dense heather, with a suprise tight and tricky dropoff to catch you out before rejoining the main trail. Somehow I managed to clean that but then faceplant on an easy section I’ve ridden regularly for the last 12 years, it’s the first off I’ve had in ages too, how did that happen?

Highlights of the ride?

My Oakley Chop Tops not snapping despite the impact they took.

The hidden stash of Stella, a leftover of a february punkbike ride, that’s the perfect place to stop on warm rides.

Sounds like a better ride than I had on Sunday, honestly the things you see when you least expect it !
